Can There Be The Ideal Alternative Fuel For Our Vehicles?

In the past, diesel-powered engine vehicles were popular because the diesel fuel was less expensive than regular gas. But with almost all fuel prices rising, not many people are sure what to do. At the moment the cost of diesel fuel is more than gasoline. Because no one really knows what the prices are gonna do, scientists, environmentalists, and technologists are all seeking a better alternative to fossil fuels. As soon as the diesel engine originally came out it was supposed to run on peanut oil or vegetable seed oil, but with cheap petroleum prices, people just used diesel fuel. It seemed that people didn’t understand that these engines could use regular cooking oil. Nowadays, biodiesel fuels are being developed by using soybean oil, vegetable oil, animal fats and old restaurant grease. Today there exists a fuel mixture called B20 which is consists of 20% biodiesel fuel and 80% petroleum. Biodiesel is excellent given that the oils are not only biodegradable but they have low gas emissions.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is known as a byproduct of petroleum processing and this can be used to run diesel engine vehicles as well. LPG happens to be the cheapest of most petroleum products. You can use LPG by installing a conversion apparatus. One more bio-degradable and renewable fuel is ethanol. It doesn’t promote greenhouse gas emissions since it burns clean. It is made up of 15% gasoline and 85% alcohol, which is exactly how it got the name E85, and it can be used on any diesel engine vehicle.  The cost of this fuel is a little bit higher than traditional fuel.

One more option is electric cars but there are a couple of issues. The battery power doesn’t last very long and cannot go fast enough for the freeway. Tesla is in fact the very first sports car that runs on pure electricity and it has put to rest the two issues. Even though advancement in electronic cars technology has become amazing, it hasn’t become very popular due to the high price tag. Even if a purely electric car might not sell successfully, the hybrid option has a better outlook. These kinds of cars operate on both gasoline and electricity. Though these types of cars cost more than regular fuel cars, they provide more savings in the long term.

There are pros and cons for all of the alternate fuels. There is constant research to find a viable solution, and progress is certainly being made. Sometime soon, all cars will be using fuel aside from gasoline.
